Lewis' Birthday Party

Yesterday we had a birthday party for 3 of the kids and 2 of the caregivers. Lewis was the star of the show, because the two other kids were little babies. Everybody loves Lewis. Someday we'll show some pictures and tell the story of how he arrived at the shelter. It is a pretty heart breaking/heart warming/ amazing/tremendous/ miraculous story. It is wonderful to see how far he has come. He has to wear socks on his hands because he has excema on his whole body because of the medication that he is on. He is such a character. He is like a 40 year old man in a 4 year old body. He acts grumpy a lot of the time, but I think that is mostly just an act. He is very particular in who he will let play with him, hold him, or push him on the swing. But, like I said, I think that it is mostly an act. He always makes me laugh because he is so serious. My favorite is when he plays with Dr. Neil. He really brightens up and comes out of his shell for Dr. Neil. After the party we took a group picture with everyone from the shelter and all of the missionaries. This picture here is without any of the missionaries (except our kids are in it) because we haven't got a copy of the pictures taken with us in it yet. After the pictures we all got flu shots. Kyler did great. Madison put on a brave front for the other kids, but when it came down to it, she fell apart. The really great part is that Jenny, the kids, and some of the others on the property all got sick from the shots. Michele called Dr. Neil and he said it should pass in 48 hours. I (Lincoln) still feel fine though.
